Bec, Sara and Sarah at the Excelsior

Press Release
Sara Storer first came to prominence as a singer/songwriter who was clearly following her heart to make music that mattered most to her. To all who heard her, there was little doubt that here was a unique talent. It was music that was proudly of and about this country, but crucially there was a sense that it was rooted firmly in the present. Her fourth album, Silver Skies is filled with tales of lives and loves of those on the land but there is a much broader musical palette that shows her to be a contemporary of Missy Higgins and The Waifs as much as her country comrades.
Most impressively Storer has moved forward without leaving anything behind.

Much of this change is laid at the feet of Matt Fell and
Josh Cunningham (The Waifs) who produced an album that has garnered some impressive reviews.

This time, with producers Matt Fell and Josh Cunningham, Storer has found a way to make country music that doesn’t play on hokum (Second Time Around is charming), folk-pop music that doesn’t sound sweetened (Long Live The Girls wouldn’t be out of place on a Waifs album) and includes the earthiness that is, surprisingly, so rarely heard in local country.
Bernard Zuel - SMH

Her new material gives her a genuine shot at mainstream success.
David Costello - Courier Mail

This is a gold class effort.
Mike Daly - The Age

Since the release of Silver Skies in November last year,
Storer has toured with the Waifs and Suzanne Vega and appeared at the State Theatre with Paul, Kelly and Missy Higgins in a tribute to the music of Kev Carmondy.

It was Bec Willis’ undeniably unique voice that first grabbed the attention of Kasey Chambers, in a chance encounter in early 2004.

Kasey was so impressed with Bec she offered to produce her debut album - the first time Kasey had stepped out of performing mode to work on another artist’s project.

“It was that beautiful and quirky catch in her voice that first appealed to me. It was different from anything I had heard but what a bonus when I discovered she was also a great songwriter. She has a special way of making a song sound unmistakably original yet familiar and comfortable. A sad songwriter who still makes you smile - the best kind”
said Kasey about why she decided to produce Bec’s album.

Sarah Humphrey’s music has been described as immediately appealing folk/pop music with a 60’s feel. Sarah has been consistently gigging since 2002, playing shows and touring with artists including Renee Geyer, Kasey Chambers, Mick Hart, Diesel, Karl Broadie, Brian Campeau and Matt Tonks, played at music festivals including Peats Ridge Festival, played at Australia’s premier venues, taken her music interstate and spent many hours in the studio working on her debut EP and her brand new album. Her reputation and fan base are steadily growing and her independent records are reaching people and making a big impact.

Long Live the Girls will feature Sara, Bec and Sarah with musicians Matt Fell and Glenn Wilson every Wednesday in April at the Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills.
